What does ganglion cyst mean?
A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump that commonly develops along the tendons or joints of the wrists or hands, but can also occur in the ankles or feet. It is filled with a jelly-like fluid and can vary in size, often becoming more prominent with joint movement. While typically harmless, ganglion cysts can sometimes cause pain or discomfort if they press on a nerve.
